Few days ago, I had a lunch date with one of my favorite professors. Happened to know that I enjoy reading, she recommended a novel she had read while she was waiting for her flight on a business trip. Even though I prefer cats to dogs, I still brought a copy of the novel home few days later simply because this is the novel recommended by someone I adore. lol.
To sum up this novel, just read the title. A Dog's Purpose. Narrated by a dog, the story is about his life as a dog. Besides, the subtitle foretells the story. Even though one can somehow predict the ending of the story, it was still satisfying, well, I mean this is the kind of ending I prefer. Happy ending yet not perfect with a little regret and sadness.
Just like the doggy in the novel not knowing why on earth he had to come back to life as a puppy again and again; we may be lost, bewildered, or even frustrated not knowing where to go or what to do. But every event/experience has its purpose.
"As I lay in a patch of sun, pondering this, I realized that I had spent my life as a good dog. What I had learned from my first mother had led me to Ethan, and what I had learned from Ethan had enabled me to dive into those black waters and find Geoffrey. Along the way, Jakob had taught me to Find and Show and I had helped save many people..."
So I guess I gotta learn to take it easy. Just like a quote from one of my favorite writers, "The slower the better!"
