Taipei Biennial 2012, Modern Monsters/Death and Life of Fiction @Taipei Fine Arts Museum

這周末和朋友約了去看雙年展，這次的策展構想是和過去與歷史進行想像性的互動，進而協調歷史意識。假設全球藝術體系的共同點就是現代化的經驗和影響，這次雙年展著重的便是全球各地藝術家針對這種經驗與過程如何闡述與進行談判與協商。透過東南亞地區與世界各地共同策展人的合作，2012台北雙年展共有40餘件作品與6座微型博物館。（摘自台北雙年展臉書）

This Saturday I had a date with my friend. We went to Taipei Biennial 2012, which is held at Taipei Fine Arts Museum. The idea of this exhibition is to interact with the history and the past, imaginatively, in order to coordinate the consciousness of history. If the experience and the effect of modernization is the common ground for global fine art system, the focus of this exhibition would be how do artists from all over the world elaborate and negotiate this kind of experience and process. Cooperated by the curators from the Southern East area and the rest of the world, Taipei Biennial 2012 exhibits more than 40 pieces of arts along with 6 mini-museums. 由於看展覽前做的功課不足，加上藝術涵養不夠（嗚嗚真是對不起以前的美術老師們...）一開始在西蒙．藤原的展間還很認真地看影片，聽藝術家講解他作品的概念跟故事，但是到後面幾件影音作品我就開始恍神了...囧

I wasn't well prepared before I go to the museum and have little knowledge about arts...(oh I feel so guilty and sorry to my art teachers back in junior high :( ) So not long after the first participant Simon Fujiwara's video, which Fujiwara explains his idea of his fictive museum, I started to fade out when watching videos presented by other participants...

所有的展覽作品最有趣（平易近人？）的就是入口大廳的《等候大廳．現代性場景》！

Among all the projects, I like The Waiting Hall. Scenes of Modernity the most, which welcomes people as soon as we step into the museum (because this one is the most down-to-earth, for me :P)

一踏進北美館，不同於以往直接看到服務台及售票台，這次踏進北美館首先見到的是一座超大的屏幕，屏幕前有條走道，地上還架了好幾座地燈照射著螢幕，彷彿來到表演舞台的後台。走過走道來到大型螢幕的另一面後，會見到五間以木板獨立起來的小空間，以及幾排座椅。

Different from my previous experience, a huge screen blocked the way when I got into the museum. A walkway was set along the screen with several underground lamps beaming at the screen. It was if walking into a backstage. Five small office-box were set up in the lobby with a few lines of seats.

心裡還在納悶這個螢幕到底要做甚麼幹嘛擺在這邊...這幾個獨立小房間把售票台擋住了的時候，回頭一看才發現，原來剛剛自己成了藝術的一部分！

While I was still wondering what the heck and where was the ticket selling point, I turned and was so surprised by the scene. I was part of the art work!
